Physics

The A level in Physics is your launchpad to understanding the fundamental forces that govern our world. In the AS level, you’ll delve into mechanics, materials, waves, and electricity, uncovering the secrets of motion, light, and circuits. As you advance to the A2 level, you’ll explore further mechanics, electric and magnetic fields, nuclear physics, and the thrilling realms of thermodynamics and cosmology. The core practical experiments of the International A level are covered in depth within the course, and assessed via examination paper. From the tiniest particles to the vast cosmos, this qualification empowers you to decode the secrets of the universe

A-Level Physics

Students of the Edexcel A level physics course will be expected to demonstrate and apply the knowledge, understanding and skills described below. In addition, they will be expected to analyse, interpret and evaluate a range of scientific information, ideas and evidence using their knowledge, understanding and skills.

To study 3 A Levels:

5 GCSEs at grade 5 or higher, including English Language and Maths

Please note:

  • BTEC or vocational qualifications will not be accepted in place of GCSEs

Additional Requirements

  • 9-5 in Maths

  • 9-5 in Biology if taking separate sciences

  • 9-5 in Double Science / Core Science AND Additional Science (not applied or vocational Science)
